In collaboration with AMAN foundation (NGO) and DUHS, NDMA initiated and established two tele
medicine mobile clinics. The goal was to provide healthcare to the flood victims in Sindh, especially in the
remote areas. These clinics were remotely connected with DUHS for medical expertise and care. Two
ambulances, innovatively equipped with the state of the art technologies, were made available by AMAN
foundation to run the operation. With the use of biometric devices, patients’ data was transferred from
mobile clinics to the specialists in Karachi through wireless broadband. In addition to all the vital data, a
live video/audio feature was also available to help look into eyes, ears, nose and throat to be able to
diagnose and to provide appropriate telehealth.
NDMA successfully launched Pakistan’s first ever tele-health mobile units in Badin, Tando Mohammad
Khan and Mirpur Khas in Sindh province. Each of these three clinics provided telecare, in consultation
with DUHS, to more than 70 patients each day with women and children being the majority. Total
number of patients benefiting from these clinics was 15,000.
